FAQs
At Art of Stone USA, we believe that understanding your surface is the key to preserving its beauty.
Below you’ll find detailed answers to the most common questions from our clients — from daily care to complex restorations.
Why does my countertop need annual maintenance?
Your stone surface may look solid — but over time, sealant wears off, micro-cracks appear, and liquids start to penetrate.
That’s how stains, dull spots, and hidden damage begin.
Our Annual Care Plans are designed to prevent that.
Just like your car needs regular service to avoid costly repairs, your countertop deserves the same care — to stay strong, clean, and beautiful for years.
What’s the difference between Basic, Standard, and Premium plans?
Basic Plan – Perfect for first-time clients or minimal wear.
Includes:
Deep professional cleaning
Re-caulking around the sink area
Up to 1 small chip repair
(No sealer is applied in this plan.)
Standard Plan – Our most popular and balanced option.
Includes everything in Basic, plus:
Re-caulking of both sink and backsplash
Up to 3 chip repairs
Full professional sealer protection
(This plan offers ideal long-term protection against stains and surface damage.)
Premium Plan – For luxury materials or high-wear kitchens.
Includes everything in Standard, plus:
Dual-layer sealer application for maximum durability
Up to 5 chip repairs
Priority scheduling and service
(Best choice for marble, quartzite, and high-end kitchens.)
How long does the service take?
Most services take between 1.5 to 3 hours, depending on your kitchen size and surface condition.
Small kitchens may take around 1 hour; larger or premium projects can take up to 4 hours.
Each surface is unique — we always take the time needed to do the job right.
Should I clear my countertops before your team arrives?
Yes, please.
We kindly ask clients to remove small appliances, décor, and personal items before our arrival.
This ensures safe access to your surfaces and helps protect your belongings.
Our technicians always work carefully — but a clear space allows us to deliver the best possible result.
Are your products safe for my family and home?
Absolutely.
We use professional-grade Italian and U.S. products formulated for natural and engineered stone.
They are non-toxic and safe for your home and pets.
After service, we recommend gently airing out the area for 30–60 minutes — simply to remove any light product scent and leave your kitchen fresh.
What if my countertop is larger than 65 sq ft?
That’s no problem.
Our base plans cover up to 65 sq ft, which fits most standard kitchens.
If your surface is larger, you can select a pre-calculated size option on our website (75, 85, 100, or 120 sq ft).
For custom-sized projects above 120 sq ft, we’ll provide a personalized quote.
Do you work with vanities, fireplaces, or floors?
Yes — we service all types of stone surfaces.
Floors, vanities, showers, fireplaces, and walls can all be professionally cleaned, restored, and sealed to protect them from stains, water, and daily wear.
While our annual plans focus on countertops, we offer custom restoration and sealing packages for any stone surface in your home.
Can I book maintenance for multiple properties?
Yes!
We work with property managers, realtors, and homeowners who maintain several homes.
For multi-property service, we’ll prepare a custom quote to ensure the best value for your portfolio.
What if I just need one small repair or re-caulking?
We do offer individual services like chip repair or sink re-caulking.
However, a minimum service visit fee of $250 applies to all on-site appointments.
If your total is below that, we recommend bundling services (for example, adding a sealer or extra repairs) to make the most of your visit.
How do I book my service?
Choose your plan directly on our website — Basic, Standard, or Premium — and click “Request Service” or “Add to Cart.”
Once you complete checkout, our team will contact you to confirm details and schedule your appointment.
For large or custom projects, you can also request a free quote before booking.
How often should I schedule countertop maintenance?
It depends on how you use your kitchen.
Every home is different — some people cook every day, others rarely. But remember: a kitchen is one of the most aggressive environments in your home.
Heat, oils, vinegar, wine, lemon juice, and cleaning chemicals constantly interact with your countertop surface — slowly wearing away its protection.
That’s why we recommend scheduling professional maintenance once a year, or every 6 months if you cook often or your countertop experiences heavy use.
Our subscription options make this simple —
every 6 months: you save 10%
every 12 months: you save 5%
These savings aren’t just a promotion — they’re our way of encouraging homeowners to truly care for their stone surfaces and keep them beautiful for years.
How long does sealer protection last?
A professional-grade sealer typically protects your surface for up to 12–18 months — depending on usage, stone type, and care.
There are no liquid sealers that last 5–10 years or “lifetime” — that’s a marketing myth.
Even the best sealers wear down gradually with cleaning and daily use.
The sealer acts as a microscopic barrier between your stone and potential stains.
Without it, liquids like wine, coffee, oil, and lemon juice can soak into the stone’s pores, causing permanent discoloration that can be nearly impossible to remove.
We recommend renewing sealer at least once a year to keep your surface protected and easy to clean.
Can you remove any stain from stone?
Not every stain can be fully removed — it depends on how deep it has penetrated the surface and how long it’s been there.
Our team evaluates every case individually based on photos, description, and the type of stone.
Some stains (like fresh wine or oil marks) can be lifted completely,
while others (like old acidic burns or deep etching) may require professional restoration or polishing.
We’re always honest with our clients — if something can’t be fixed, we’ll tell you before starting the job.
What restoration services do you offer?
We offer full restoration and repair services for all stone surfaces, including:
Stain and mold removal
Seam restoration (removing and redoing old joints)
Crack and chip repair
Edge restoration and polishing
Stone surface refinishing and protection
Tabletop and vanity repair (yes — even broken pieces can often be reassembled!)
For example, one of our clients brought us a broken coffee table made of marble — shattered in three parts during a move.
Our team restored it so perfectly that you could hardly tell it was ever damaged.
If it’s stone — we can most likely restore it.
Where can sealer be applied?
Sealer can be applied to almost any stone surface to protect it from stains and etching:
Countertops (kitchen and vanity)
Floors and stairs
Fireplaces
Showers and bathrooms
Tabletops and decorative stone elements
Bathrooms are exposed to soaps and moisture, kitchens — to acids and oils, and floors — to cleaning chemicals and water.
That’s why regular sealing is essential to maintain shine, durability, and cleanliness.
